The 19th Pastors for Peace Caravan and the Hiphop Exchange to Cuba — June/July 2008
Last summer, the first Hiphop Without Borders exchange traveled with the Pastors for Peace caravan to Cuba. It sent eight b-boys, hiphop heads and artists to participate in an international Hiphop festival. It also brought turntables, keyboards and records to support Cuban Hiphop. This summer, Pastors for Peace caravan will include its second Hiphop Without Borders exchange to Cuba.
While in Cuba for 8 days, we’ll collaborate with Cuban Hiphop and other performing artists in performances and community workshops. We’ll also tour Cuban schools, hospitals, cities and countryside, learning about Cuban culture and society.
The Hiphop exchange is part of the 19th Pastors for Peace U.S./Cuba Friendshipment caravan. Every summer, the caravan challenges the U.S. blockade of Cuba by bringing solidarity, friendship and numerous tons of humanitarian aid to the Cuban people – all without a license from the U.S. government. On its voyage towards Cuba, the 2008 caravan will travel on 15 different routes through more than 125 different cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Help build a new foreign policy towards Cuba by joining the Hiphop Without Borders exchange and the 19th Pastors for Peace caravan to Cuba this summer! Help bring Cuban Hiphoppers the gear they can’t get because of the blockade – donate turntables, vinyl, musical instruments, computers or audio equipment!
